This Rug has been going through our Intensive Care Unit. It had had a DIY clean and unfortunately many of the colours had run into each other. We call these; fugitive dyes. Once out of quarantine (Covid 19 Precaution) and before being cleaned, we used a “Colour Fast” treatment to help stabilize the colour. Now stabilized the cleaning can go ahead but only at cold temperatures 10degC and only with a very mildly alkaline, almost neutral solution. If the temperature is too high or the alkaline level to strong the colours will run. At Weaver Ltd, your rugs are in expert hands.

If you have rugs that you are thinking of cleaning yourself – always test the fibre for colour transfer relative to the solution you are thinking about cleaning it with. If your rugs are expensive then do not do a DIY clean. Do not hire a smelly old m/c that someone else has used for a pet clean up. Do not find the cheapest quote you can. Look for an expert, for example an NCCA member there are over 600 NCCA members around the country. Find one on the NCCA website. Look for “TrustMark” registration or “Which” approved. Do not gamble with your precious oriental rugs.
