Duresta Upholstery Cleaning – This is a sofa that we cleaned in Uffington near Stamford. It is just over 20 years old and now looks like new. The client is over the moon.
First we test the fabric to assess how best to clean it. We look for traces of alkaline, from previous cleaning procedures, using a pH tester. We assess for the presence of fugitive dyes, especially red dyes. We test to see if the fabric is colour fast, relative to the special products that we intend to clean with. If there is a test patch we will utilise it. Unfortunately someone had cut off the test patch on this sofa. We read the labels and determine the fibre type. If necessary we will take a sample of the fabric and conduct a burns test. The sample is taken from inside of a cushion. We also look for physical damage. This beautiful Egyptian type fabric was immaculate but dirty.
